A little girl with Down syndrome says “mom” for the first time. Watch Mom’s Joy | Tendency

Nikki Geib recounts her journey with her granddaughter with Down syndrome. She does this on her Instagram page which has over 84,500 followers. And in this video that was recently shared on this page and went viral for all the right reasons, we can see her baby girl saying “mom” for the first time in her life.

Down syndrome is a condition in which a child is born with an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are tiny packages of genes that control the growth and functioning of a baby’s body during pregnancy and after birth. A baby is born with an average of 46 chromosomes. One of these chromosomes has an extra copy in infants with Down syndrome.

The video opens to show the little girl babbling in her usual sweet manner as she walks over to the word “mom” which has a lot of meaning. His delighted mother can be seen in this video which she captioned: “And the babbling has reached a whole new level!” Chances are, this video will make you smile broadly.

The video was posted on Instagram on April 23 and since then it has garnered several comments from people who couldn’t help but adore the precious little one. It has also received over 2.9 lakh views so far.

One Instagram user wrote, “This is so cute! That kiss at the end! “She’s adorable, the sweetest little girl,” read another comment. A third comment says, “The way she looks at you is so beautiful and pure! It’s so wonderful! My heart! Congratulations!”
