MR PORTER gives direct access to the world’s best watch brands in Geneva – Robb Report

For watch enthusiasts, spring in Switzerland usually means two things: white asparagus is in season and a slew of new luxury watches are about to hit the market. While you won’t find any spargel on MR PORTER, the world-class shopping and content platform is a direct conduit to all of the new timepieces that debuted at Watches and Wonders Geneva last week.

Showcase of the latest watchmaking introductions from the biggest names in fine watchmaking, the show, which was held virtually from April 7 to 13, joined forces for the second time with MR PORTER and its sister site, NET-A- PORTER, to bring customers ‘first in the market’ access to the latest timepieces, including a host of alluring models in green hues, elegant tributes to historic wristwatches and contemporary sports pieces. In addition, the sites will also feature live virtual activations, original content and enhanced shopping capabilities.

Of the 38 brands that participated in Watches and Wonders, MR PORTER will highlight 11, including Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Hermès, H. Moser & Cie., IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron Constantin, through the prism of a unique and spectacular novelty.

NET-A-PORTER, meanwhile, will present a unique piece from each of the six participating brands, including Cartier, Hermès, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget and Vacheron Constantin. Here is a sample of the watchmaking delicacies that customers of MR PORTER and NET-A-PORTER can expect to see:

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Petite Seconde

For the 90th anniversary of its classic Reverso wristwatch, Jaeger-LeCoultre gave the sun-brushed lacquer dial of its Tribute Small Seconds model a lush green hue, evoking the pine forests that surround the watchmaker’s house in the Valley. de Joux in Switzerland.

Cartier Ballon Bleu de Cartier Automatic

Baby of Cartier’s vast collection of timepieces, the Ballon Bleu contains all the codes associated with the House—A blue cabochon bezel, blued steel sword-shaped hands and Roman numerals — rendered here in a 40mm 18k rose gold style bearing the circle pattern in a distinctive circle of the line.

Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 Manual Winding

The casual 45-degree angle of the dial of Vacheron Constantin’s new Historiques American 1921 manual-winding model is a tribute to the century-old wristwatch on which this re-edition is based. Informally known as the ‘Driver’s Watch’, the 40mm 18k white gold watch is the perfect and irreverent statement piece of this decade.

Hermès H08 Automatic

A brand new Hermès collection, the H08 line lives at the intersection of sport and clothing styles, by design. Boasting an exclusive digital font on the dial, H-shaped bracelet links and a strap detail on the rubber strap that is similar to the brand’s coveted leather accessories, this 39mm automatic watch with the graphene dial and round silhouette in a cushion is guaranteed to be an instant classic.

Panerai Submersible Blu Abisso Automatic

Affectionately known as the “Bronzo”, the original Bronze Submersible was introduced 10 years ago and quickly became one of the brand’s hardest to obtain models. While this 42mm diver’s watch (PAM01074) is smaller and (hopefully) more accessible than its predecessor, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be in high demand.

IWC Schaffhausen Pilot Automatic Chronograph

Reduced to a more portable 41mm case, the stainless steel automatic pilot’s chronograph is now fitted with the manufacture caliber 69385; a quick-change strap system that makes it easy to switch between leather, rubber or stainless steel; and a bright green dial to complement the beautiful front of the watch.

Montblanc 1858 Geosphere automatic limited edition

Famous mountaineer (and Montblanc ambassador) Reinhold Messner toured the Gobi Desert solo in 2004. H. Moser Endeavor Tourbillon Automatic

The striated appearance of the red tiger’s eye (aka bull’s eye) gives the dial of the new Endeavor Tourbillon Automatic 40 mm in 18-carat red gold from H. Moser & Cie. flying tourbillon one minute at 6 o’clock.
